It Costs To Meet President

By Cliff Montgomery – Feb. 29th, 2012

Let’s be honest: America is not a democracy. At best, it is a plutocracy owned by our wealthiest few. And those few buy the slightly less wealthy politicians. It has always been so under the ‘system of the Founding Fathers’.

And that is why almost every member of our elite – Democrat or Republican, liberal or conservative – is such a staunch defender of capitalism. For them, there’s a great deal of money in it.

“President Barack Obama’s campaign fundraising trip to Maine on March 30 will feature a dinner at the Portland Museum of Art,” states today’s edition of The Kennebec Journal, published in Maine, “with the price of admission as much as $30,000.”

“About 100 donors are expected to attend the dinner, according to three sources who spoke on condition of anonymity,” according to the Journal.

“The dinner will follow a reception that afternoon at the Portland Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland,” continues the Journal, “where about 800 people are expected to attend.”

“Obama’s trip to Maine will not include an official event, just the two campaign fundraisers, the White House has said,” according to the paper.

“The prices for tickets to the event at Sable Oaks range from $100 to $10,000,” declared the Journal.

“For $100, an Obama supporter can buy a general admission ticket,” continues the paper. “For a $250 donation, one gets ‘friend’ status, and for $500, a contributor gains entry to a ‘preferred section,’ ” states the paper. The source for the Obama story, MaineToday.com, adds that it obtained this information from an Obama campaign website.

And that’s not all one can buy for the right price.

“A ‘co-host,’ who contributes or raises $10,000, gains entry to a photo reception with the president,” according to the Journal.

And let’s not forget “the [even] more exclusive dinner at the art museum,” where “the cost of attending…begins at $5,000 and tops out at a $30,000 donation to the Democratic National Committee.”
