U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are simply government officials working under what’s intended to be a democratic constitution. The Bill of Rights ensures ICE agents are legally bound to follow federal rules that greatly limit the use of violence on others – especially U.S. citizens. Federal laws and the policies of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – which oversees ICE – authorizes that if force is used, it must be both necessary and only employed to a limited, reasonable degree. A priority is given to various de-escalation techniques and devices, with the use of pepper spray as perhaps the most harsh to be used if necessary.
Deadly force is not to be used, unless agents face an imminent threat of serious injury or death. Though agents are only authorized to employ “objectively reasonable” force, in reality there have numerous instances and legal actions regarding questionable practices. This has brought on heated discussions about the ICE training program, as well as questions about how dedicated ICE officials really are about teaching and enforcing their own guidelines.
The big issue right now? ICE’s overly aggressive push to find undocumented immigrants has greatly contributed to a slew of lawsuits and news articles that appear to show a large increase in uses of force, intimidation and outright violent activities being performed by ICE agents. These tactics are often directly employed on U.S. citizens, who in a number of incidents are injured or killed, like Renee Nicole Good of Minneapolis, MN.
Donald Trump – Il Douche – and his minions in ICE and across his administration seem hell-bent on insisting Ms. Good was little more than a ‘domestic terrorist’ scaring defenseless ICE agents.
The only problem appears to be that this murder was recorded by a number of individuals, and the recording seems to tell a different story.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is one of those who has seen the footage. He has some simple words for those who portray Renee Good as a dangerous terrorist, frightening defenseless ICE agents.
“Having seen the video myself, I want to tell everybody directly: that is bullshit,” openly declares Mayor Frey. “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in somebody dying, getting killed.”
In fact, video footage appears to show Good in her car, and turning its wheels away from the ICE shooter standing in front of her car. Good apparently was planning to go elsewhere at the moment of her murder.
What Are Your Rights During An Encounter With ICE Agents?
You may refuse ICE agents entry to your house or private business if they do not possess a proper judicial warrant (ICE warrants are not binding).
You may openly tell the agents, “I do not consent to this search,” according to Stop AAPI Hate.
You may ask, “Am I free to go?” If they reply, “Yes,” you may take your things and leave. But if they reply, “No,” it’s best to demand a lawyer and to stay silent, declares Stop AAPI Hate.
