Mccain V.P. Choice Reveals UNfitness For Presidency

McCain’s V.P. choice reveals an inability for critical thought bordering on senility. McCain V.P. Choice Reveals Unfitness For PresidencyBy Cliff Montgomery – Aug. 30th, 2008Numerous political experts have openly questioned Senator and Republican presidential nominee John McCain’s (R-AZ) pick for a running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin–a person who “appears to be the least experienced, least credentialed person to join a major-party ticket in the modern era,” states a Politico article published today. The bizarre choice says more about John McCain’s inability to handle the job of the U.S. presidency–perhaps the most trying, important job in the modern world–than anything else.“I think she is the most inexperienced person on a major party ticket in modern history,” presidential historian Matthew Dallek told Politico.Prior to serving as governor of Alaska for only about 18 months, Sarah Palin “had not had major experience in public life,” Dallek said of Gov. Palin.“The fact that [McCain] would…go to somebody who is clearly unqualified to be president makes Obama look like an elder statesman” by comparison, added Dallek. And there is the extra matter of what constitutes the top issues of government in Alaska. Those issues are often radically “different than the basket of issues you deal with in big, dynamic states” like Illinois, said Dallek. U.S. Senator and Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama (D-IL) has served almost four years in the Senate, and before that served for eight years in Illinois’ state Senate.Even Alaska’s newspapers openly regard Palin as an exceptionally poor pick for the vice-presidency.”It’s stunning that someone with so little national and international experience might be a heartbeat away from the presidency,” printed The Anchorage Daily News on hearing of McCain’s choice. And they know their own governor better than anyone else. But the main revelation is what this choice shows about John McCain’s obvious inability to handle such a demanding job as the presidency of the United States.A vice-presidential running mate is the first choice that a party’s presidential nominee makes regarding the presidency. It gives Americans and those around the world the first direct insight into the maturity, gravity and competence of the person who is working to become the most powerful human being on earth for the next four years.Sen. Obama picked fellow Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) as his running mate, a person with 35 years of proven experience as a U.S. senator. And as current chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Biden certainly is one of America’s leading political experts in foreign affairs.By contrast, Gov. Palin stated in an interview some months ago that she doesn’t even know what a vice-president does.John McCain openly calls Obama “inexperienced”, but believes Palin is presidential timber. The ever decreasing crowd of American neo-conservatives have continually criticized Sen. Obama for his supposed inexperience, and it perhaps was the one genuine issue against the Illinois senator that could have had some teeth as the country enters the final stretch of the 2008 White House race. But in one bizarre stroke, McCain’s choice of Palin has made Sen. Obama look like an old political pro by comparison, and has single-handedly destroyed the only real ammunition against Obama the neo-cons had left.At 72 years old, there’s a very real possibility that a President John McCain might die while in office. That means there’s a very real chance that Sarah Palin could become president of the United States. No one except John McCain seriously believes she is ready for the job.The choice of Palin doesn’t even work if one tries to explain it away as an attempt to appeal to females; recent history proves that doesn’t work. George H.W. Bush–Dubya’s ‘Daddy’–tried to make a similarly cheap appeal to females by choosing then-handsome man and U.S. senator from Indiana, Dan Quayle, as his running mate, and that clearly didn’t bring females rushing to join the GOP fold. But at least Quayle had served in the U.S. Congress–both House and Senate–for more than a decade before assuming the duties of the vice-presidency.Salon.com has referred to McCain’s V.P. choice as a “cynical and contemptuous political act.” But we at The American Spark believe differently. We see it as a firm proof that John McCain is dangerously unfit to be president–and possibly equally unfit to remain in the Senate. It reveals an inability for critical thought bordering on senility. And that fact needs to be admitted now, before it’s too late.Like what you’re reading so far? Then why not order a full year (52 issues) of thee-newsletter for only $15?
